In 2019, Aspiration had several projects in the works that would result in much more information available to help customers understand their transactions. The company needed a way to display this info without distracting from core details of a transaction, such as amount, date, and description.

I designed a visual layout system called Tidbits that allows our team to present the details of transactions to customers in a consistent and easily consumable way. This layout system covered all of the current needs at the time it shipped, and has since scaled to support many other new projects and types of information we’ve added to the experience.

By defining a set of consistent layouts for these pieces of information, it’s been easy for our designers to work with product managers and engineers to create new Tidbits as needed, and we can do so knowing they’ll fit perfectly into the existing transaction views.

You can check out the original deck I shared with folks internally to pitch the layout system here.
